Lotus Notes & Domino R6

New Notes and Domino 6 will give reductions in the TCO of running your messaging infrastructure. Some of the new features in Lotus Notes 6:

  • e-mail shows unread marks for mails in folders.
  • Customise your inbox and Notes 6 remembers how you left it!
  • Choose different colours ( backgrounds and Text colours) in your inbox, based on rules - differentiate mail messages. (Calendar colours are also changeable)
  • File attachments options allow you to forward files or not and whether to Detach, Edit, Save and Delete, Delete, Save All, Save and Delete All, and Delete All.
  • The R6 Calendar is much improved, with mini view calendars.
  • Adding items directly from the view. Drag and drop items to change dates.
  • The R6 Scheduler UI is much better, enabled for dragging too.
  • Various options are available in R6 to see new "working week" views.
  • Create replicas for whole databases or just certain documents! Simply drag and drop database, view, or documents onto the Replicator page.
  • Document locking expands collaboration options and distributed working.
  • Multiple people can use single machines. R6 will soon have the "roaming user" system, allowing users to login anywhere.
  • Login dialog box allows you to choose different user IDs and/or locations before you enter your password.
  • The R6 Welcome Page has several new options, including setup wizards, tips of the day, a "switcher" for dynamic switching of frame content and welcome page action buttons.
  • The new "Launch Pad", allows for quick access to applications, tasks and links (notes and web)
  • Quick Notes, will allow you to create mail, contacts, journal entries and reminders without having to open each database.
  • Bookmarks now include two new folders: Startup and History.
  • Window Tabs in Notes 6, allow you to use your mouse to click, hold and drag to reorder the tabs as you wish.
  • Re-sizable dialog boxes in Notes 6!
  • Reorder lists and bullets using the Ctrl key with the up and down arrows.
  • "In place attachment editing". The Properties box has an edit button to open attachments in edit mode to modify and save them without having to detach and save them first!!!

Table enhancement include new options:

  • "Size to Fit" for resizing table columns, so the column width accommodates the contents of the column.
  • "Table - Select Table" command allows you to quickly select rows, columns, cells, or the entire table for cutting or copying.
  • Table cell reordering enables you to move contents by placing your cursor anywhere in the cell, pressing and holding down the Ctrl key, to move cell contents with the up and down arrow keys.
  • Customise your Logout screens, by pressing F5
