However, better late than never. So, with a re-newed spirit, we are delighted to detail our involvement with MayFlower Software and their Spam Sentinel antispam and anti-virus product set We have not only installed SpamSentinel onto our Customer's Domino servers, but have used it here at basic too. We have and continue to be pleased by the results and we now recommend it as our anti-spam solution for Domino servers. SpamSentinel runs right on your Lotus Domino server and uses native Notes applications to manage and control and subsequently remove most, if not all of the unwanted spam from being delivered to your users. We will put a page link here shortly, for more information. In the meantime, you can find more information here: Mayflow Spamsentinel March 31st 2009 COMMENTARY (or mini-blog comment...)We know that some viewers of our website have noticed our improved news reporting. Thanks for taking the time to let us know you've seen this. We aim to keep improving our communications in this space. In the past, we have been periodically guilty of neglecting our website. We simply weren't working on our website hard enough. For the last few months however, we have managed to improve the level of news and product information on this site, which we hope you are finding useful. Our intention is to gradually evolve our site to :
This is a long haul project that we don't think we're going to achieve overnight. Also, there are several partners with whom we have worked for a number of years and we should have detailed them long before now. There are several products and services that we provide to our customers that we have not had the opportunity to put online. However, we are determined that we build on our recent site improvements and add new pages into the relevant areas of our site. You will see us adding quite a few pages over the coming months, to include our partners and their associated products. We hope that you will find the extra pages of interest and give you some insight on some of our other acitivities that aren't currently detailed on here. Check back here to see the details. We'll link pages from this news page, as well as through our normal navigation links. March 05th 2009 A NEW PRODUCT RELEASE: Contract Manager for Lotus NotesWe're delighted to annouce a new application to our portfolio: Contract Manager Our new Contract Management application for Lotus Notes Domino is a significantly advanced version of the training features already contained within our HR Management application. Check back here to see the details. February 2009 A NEW WEBSITE: Basic Storage is LaunchedThings have been very busy for all the people at Basic this last 3 months. New product releases, Lotusphere Trips and also a new website to launch! We are delighted to announce a new division at basic, focusing on online data backup. In order to showcase this in the best way, we have build a new website. Much of the information is detailed on the site, suffice to say, customers already using the online backup product have been very happy and in the case of one customer, a stolen laptop meant practically no data loss, due to Basic Online Backup. What a great start! Not that we enjoyed hearing of the theft.. but the fact that he didn't loose data was great to hear What you will notice about the new site, is a new feel. We have been improving our marketing material, documentation and product literature. Our Development Team has been outpacing our marketing department... although now we should keep pace thanks to our recent joiners! :-) So, please check out our new site and see what Basic Online Backup can do for you! January 2009 Lotus IBM Release: Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino 8.5This is an exciting release for us as application developers. There improvements on the server with things like DAOS and a new ODS (meaning better use of disk for large applications) Even more important though is the huge improvement in Domino Designer and the massively exciting XPAGES feature that we can start to put in our applications. Basic are sending several people to Lotusphere this year and giving them the time to get fully immersed in the technology fest. I'm sure they will have a lot to say on their return. December 2008 Product Release: Leave Requests / Vacation Manager 6.9Leave Requests 6.9. Vacation Manager 6.9 For More details: Leave Requests and our Americas version: Vacation Manager Our Leave management application recieves an update based on projects concluded successfully with customers, as well as some general improvements to features. There have been several updates that made us question whether we should have called the release a 7.0 or 8.0 release number. However, as this version is able to run on versions of Notes from 6.5 upwards, we were loathe to change the numbering just yet.
Some of the feature improvements are as follows:
Both our European and American versions of the application have had the same improvements. We are also delighted to confirm that we have customer live implementations running on Lotus Notes Domino 8.x. Now, this might not seem much, but it's always nice for us, to have customers on the latest version of Notes Domino using our applications. This allows us to be really confident and pass that confidence on to new potetial users of our applications September 2008 Product Release: ServiceDesk 7.1ServiceDesk version 7.1 has several important improvements that we did not manage to get into ServiceDesk 7.0. We had been working on some improved reporting aspects to ServiceDesk, but due to a successful project at a new customer, we had been unable to fully implement all the reporting code to the core product set. The new reporting functions are nicely embedded within the core application, but the information is quietly compiled using some very nice engine work behind the scenes. Centerpiece to the new reporting features are some very attractive looking charts that display all the critical requirements needed by Call Centre management and Team Leaders. We will link you to a page covering this new product set as we release the ServiceDesk Reporter tool formally. For now, the tool is implemented according to customer needs as part of a project. August 2008 We have decided to improve our news releases. To that end, we will now create news entries here, for version release of our applications. To kick this off, we are delighted to announce the latest release of our ServiceDesk Version 7.0. Product Release: ServiceDesk 7.0ServiceDesk version 7.0 has several important improvements to the product set, including a new enterprise option to improve intefacing and integrating several ServiceDesks together. This is based on some work done with two very large customers, each with over 500 users and high document volumes. ServiceDesk's "intelligent" call routing can move calls between Servicedesks for improved departmental and inter-team call loading in high volumne situations. Click here for more details July 2008 We are now approved EMC Storage Partners. Several key people within basic have attended courses and past EMC's requirements to enable us to provide this product set. We will be adding a few pages on this product area shortly. However in line with our website overhaul, we will add more when we launch the new site. June 2008 Basic signed up as EMC Partners, with a view to supplying our Customers with the leading storage products available on the market today. Basic Software has taken the exciting step of commencing research and development work on the beta version of Lotus Notes Domino 8.5. Not currently out yet, but offering some exciting new technology options for us, as developers, we have been immersing ourselves more and more into this beta, in order to ensure we are fully up to speed when IBM launch it. April 2008
Basic were promoted to a higher VMWARE partner status this month, due to the level of business we have achieved, along with the number of additional people with basic who have now passed the VMWARE Certified professional exams. Big Congratulations to the guys putting the hardwork in, not simply for passing the exams, but for rolling out several critical installations of VMWARE ESX Server. We have already delivered return on investment to Customers, on serveral large consolidation projects. We plan on putting some information up on this exciting area, over the coming weeks (as at todays date of 30 July 2008). We'll also add more information when we launch our new site (please refer above). April 2008
Basic Software Implementation: This month kept our Software division busy with more implementations of our applications for the IBM Lotus Notes Domino platform. Two of these alone were for global consumer / commercial electronics companies. Although the projects themselves are for their UK based businesses, we certainly appreciate being able to install our work into two more household names. March 2008
Basic Software Implementation: A bespoke project already designed and implemented for one of our customers had a major update of features and functions this month. Not only have we installed some new features to existing Lotus Notes based applications, but at the same time, we have web-enabled many core features of the original system. We were also excited as this customer went past the 10,000 user milestone (unique users within their names.nsf directory). We have been honored to have worked long and hard with this company, to help them significantly re-engineer their business by using our applications. Our Apologies for the lack of news recently...If you had looked here last week, we would have been out of date. We thought we'd just say sorry for this. However, in our defence, it's because we've been terrifically busy. While this might seem a lame excuse, we thought we'd better take an hour out of our busy schedules to (finally) let you know what we've been up to for the last few months. However, as a side note, our emphasis as a Company is on providing expert IT solutions to meet your needs. Our objective is to deliver high quality implementations, which are installed right first time and run for many years with the minimum of problems Sorry, if, as technical people, we're poor at blowing our own trumpets. We hope that you feel it's important for us to technically service our customers, before we worry about shouting about it. We invite you to challenge our abilities, so on that note, we'd look forward to hearing about any projects that you might like help with February 2008 I hope that this gives you a quick idea of some of the things that have kept us busy. But if you want to ask us about any of the items on our site, please feel free to drop us an email. Older Stuff...For Older news... For our news archives: September 2005
